Eamon Scanlon is a Fianna Fáil candidate from Ballymote Co.Sligo. He has served as TD for the Sligo Leitrim constituency from 2007-2011 and again from 2016-2020. The former Senator and County Councillor has a long track record in local politics and business. He ran his own butcher shop in the south Sligo town and works in his family run auctioneering business. He narrowly lost his seat in the 2020 election finishing on 9316 votes.
As the only south Sligo candidate in the field Scanlon feels there is a need for a strong need for rural based government TD in the constituency. He says there is “a need for strong, compassionate and effective representation in the Dáil and if elected he will commit to representing the constituency with hard work and integrity”.
Among his priorities are:
