Sligo Rovers completed their 2024 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season on Friday night with a 2-0 home defeat to St Patrick’s Athletic.
Goals from former Rovers striker Aidan Keena in the first half, and Romal Palmer late on in the second, gave Stephen Kenny’s side all three points and a third-place finish in the table.
Shelbourne were the big winners on the night as Harry Wood’s goal at the Brandywell gave Damien Duff’s side a priceless 1-0 win over Derry City to clinch their first Premier Division title since 2006.
The win pipped five-in-a-row chasing Shamrock Rovers, who beat Waterford 2-1 at Tallaght Stadium, with Johnny Kenny again on the scoresheet.
