Funeral of young man killed in south Sligo collision today



The funeral of a young man killed in a weekend collision in south Sligo takes place today.

Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Sean McGuiness who was 22 and from the Lavagh area of County Sligo died after the car he was driving was involved in a collision on the R294 near Tubbercurry in the early hours of Saturday morning last.

Tributes have been paid this week to Sean, who has been remembered as a respectful and polite young man.

His funeral is arriving to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Mullinabreena this morning for 12 noon Requiem Mass and burial afterwards in Court Abbey Cemetery.

An investigation is continuing into the crash, with Gardai asking any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 2 am and 4 am on Saturday morning last to make this footage available.
