Former Leitrim manager Andy Moran has been unveiled as part of the new Monaghan senior football management team in Ulster.
The Farney County announced Aghnamullen native Gabriel Bannigan on Thursday evening as the county’s new senior bainisteoir for the 2025 season.
Bannigan was part of Vinnie Corey’s backroom team before he stepped down from the manager’s role after two season’s in charge.
He has also managed Dublin clubs Kilmacud Crokes and St Sylvester’s in the past, while his recent stint with home club Aughnamullan led to their promotion from junior to senior.
He and Moran will be joined in the setup by Dermot McArdle, Damien Freeman and John McElhome.
Moran’s coaching future was the subject of much speculation after a surprise decision to walk away from the Leitrim manager’s job in July.
He had been linked with a role in Kevin McStay’s Mayo set-up – and was also though to be in the frame for the vacant jobs in Meath and Westmeath.
Monaghan were relegated from Division 1 of the League this year after a decade in the top tier.
They were beaten by Cavan in the Ulster preliminary round and knocked out of the All-Ireland series by Galway.
The county’s sole victory in the All-Ireland group series was against Meath.
