Sligo get vital championship win in London

Sligo LGFA gaelic footballers collected their first win in the group stage of the TG4 All-Ireland junior football championship on Saturday evening with a 1-20 to 5-3 win over London in Ruislip.

Despite outscoring their opponents in this match by 21 scores to 8, the concession of four first-half goals kept London in this contest.

Both teams were pointless going into this game with the two teams having lost their opening two group matches.

Saturday’s win moves Cormac Reape’s side onto three points in Group A after three matches.

They will need to beat Derry in the final Group A match – and hope other games go their way if they are to secure one of the top two places in the five-team group, which would secure an All-Ireland semi-final place.
