Donegal trio in ROI World Cup training squad

Republic of Ireland manager Vera Pauw named a training squad of 31 players on Friday for this summer’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Manchester United defender Aoife Mannion is the noticeable absentee because of injury.

The Donegal trio of Amber Barrett, Ciara Grant and Erin McLaughlin in there, as is Lucy Quinn, the Birmingham City player with strong Sligo family connections.

There are four league of Ireland players in the 27.

The squad will be whittled down to 23 players by the end of the month.

Ireland play Zambia in a friendly on the 22nd of this month in Tallaght.

That game has already sold out.

FIFA has announced that more than a million tickets have been sold for the world cup finals down under.
