Ballymote’s Laura Finn in All-Ireland handball semi-final

Saturday is a big day for Ballymote handballer Laura Finn.

She takes on Cuileann Burke of Mayo in the All-Ireland women’s senior handball semi-final at Croke Park.

Finn, who’s 23 and a trainee accountant, is the first Sligo handballer since Francis McCann to contest an All-Ireland senior semi-final.

She reached the last four by beating Aisling O’Keeffe of Cork in the quarter-finals 21-20, 21-18.

Handball is very much a family affair for the Finns with Laura’s brothers Cormac – an All-Ireland minor champion – and U15 player Colin also heavily involved.
