Sligo named Connacht Rugby Club of the Year

Sligo Rugby Club was named Club of the Year for 2023 at Saturday night’s Connacht Rugby Awards Ceremony in Galway.

It’s the third time in Sligo’s history to win the award.

They were previous winners in 2011 and 2015.

The Hamilton Park club had a memorable season on a number of fronts, particularly at underage with almost all club teams reaching either semi-finals or finals in their respective competition.

The senior men’s team reached the end-of-season play-offs in Division 2B of the Energia All-Ireland League, as well as the final of the Connacht Senior Cup – which they lost narrowly to Buccaneers.

It was also a strong season at underage level, as the U16 Girls won the Connacht Cup, and the U18.5 Boys won the Connacht Cup & League double.

The senior women also won the Connacht Plate & the Connacht Invitational Plate.
