The issue of safety on public transport has been raised again in the Dáil.
Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny raised the matter with Minister of State for International Transport, Jack Chambers, saying that many people who use public transport, particularly in the evenings, do not feel safe when doing so.
Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy Kenny said that this issue had been going on for some time now, and that more needs to be done to protect both passengers and staff on public transport:
In response, Minister Chambers highlighted the fact that a Garda Transport Hub had been established in Heuston Station, and that another will also be set up in Connolly Station:
