Independent TD calls for alternative aircraft to be made available at Donegal Airport

A North West based  TD has called for Standby aircraft to be made available as required at Donegal Airport.

Independent Deputy Thomas Pringle, says such a measure is necessary to ensure a reliable air service at Carrickfinn.

Speaking to Ocean FM News Deputy Pringle says Flight delays and cancellations are very worrying for people who depend on the service for work, for tourism and to attend medical appointments such as cancer patients who cannot sit for prolonged periods on bus journeys.

It’s emerged that a dedicated standby aircraft was brought into service in February, after 12 flights were cancelled while technical difficulties this month also unfortunately resulted in two cancelled flight rotations.

Deputy Pringle says a significant number of flights have been cancelled which is impacting a large number of people that use the facility on a regular basis
