Marine Minister urged to renew commitment to fishing industry



The Marine Minister is being urged to renew his commitment to work with the Fishing industry to fight for a share of fish in Irish waters.

 

Affected fishermen are said to be struggling over the current constraints imposed upon them.

 

Inshore fishermen can only fish for the likes of crab and lobster but are prevented from catching other species.

 

The issue was raised in the Dail by Donegal Sinn Fein TD Padraig MacLochlainn says a balance must be struck between the larger fleet and inshore sector:

 

 

Responding Minister McConalogue says he has already carried out a lot of work in this regard and will continue to do so:
