Donegal Council meeting disrupted as Cllr Frank McBrearty is handed suspension



Independent Councillor Frank McBrearty Jnr has been handed with a three-month suspension from Donegal County Council meetings.

 

Cllr McBrearty was asked to leave the Plenary meeting of the council on a number of occasion yesterday due to disruptive behaviour.

Cllr McBrearty attended the meeting via the online facility and made a number of allegations.

A vote among members to have Cllr McBrearty withdrawn from the proceedings was carried by 30 votes to one with just Cllr McBrearty voting against.

 

Cllr Michael Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig abstained from the vote.

 

Cllr McBrearty refused to leave the meeting after the vote.

Councillors then  voted to suspend him from all meetings of the local authority, including committee meetings and meetings of the municipal district.
