Donegal TD urges immediate action to cut energy costs

A Donegal TD is claiming that the government can intervene to cut energy costs and is urging them to take immediate action.

Deputy Pearse Doherty was speaking as his party announced it will bring forward a motion on the issue this week, which will be debated in the Dáil on Tuesday.

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Finance, Pearse Doherty says households are continuing to pay sky-high energy bills.

Deputy Doherty quoted CSO figures which say households consume as much if not more electricity in the months of April, May and June as they do in October, November and December.

Sinn Féin has tabled a motion for debate in the Dail for tomorrow which will call on the government to provided households with assistance now and not wait until later in the year.
