Report finds Ireland is experiencing a severe GP shortage



A new report has found Ireland is currently experiencing a severe GP workforce shortage that is negatively affecting the provision of timely and high-quality care to patients.

The research was carried out by the Irish College of General Practitioners and Association of University Departments of General Practice in Ireland.

The report recommends the development and implementation of a national funding model, that supports the hosting and delivery of undergraduate general practice placements for medical students in all medical schools, as well as expanded GP Intern places nationally.
