Calls have been made for tailored supports to be introduced for North West businesses that depend on seasonal tourism.
The calls were made in the Dáil earlier today by Sligo Leitrim Independent TD Marc MacSharry during a discussion on support measures for businesses and individuals that depend on seasonal tourism and who have been adversely affected by the reduction in availability of tourism accommodation.
Deputy MacSharry says the North West region has a disproportionate dependency on the tourism sector compared to other parts of the country and any reduction in available accommodation, at a time when large number of refugees are being housed here, will impact the local tourism sector in a negative way:
