Leitrim Councillor asks who’s going to drive you home



The National Transport Authority has confirmed to Ocean FM that they have received 3 applications in Manorhamilton for the Local Area Hackney Pilot Scheme.

 

The initiative will operate on a pre-booked basis, with hackneys able to pick up passengers within a designated area of 7 to 10 kilometres from a chosen point, with the drop off point having no restrictions.

 

Just 20 applications have been received for the subsidised service as part of an NTA scheme, which aims to cover 21 locations.

 

Applications for the scheme close on February 28th.

 

Local Businessman and Manorhamilton Independent Councillor, Felim Gurn is calling for a grater emphasis to be placed on expanding the rural link services in Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and Roscommon.

 

Cllr Gurn says there are  reasons for the low uptake when it comes to the new Local Area Hackney Pilot Scheme:
