Karl Lacey leaves Donegal GAA Academy role

Karl Lacey has stepped down from his role as the head of Donegal GAA’s Academy Development.

The Four Masters clubman is understood to have communicated decision on Friday.

Lacey was appointed to the role in January 2021 after he stepped away from Declan Bonner’s management team with the county senior footballers.

For the past two years, he oversaw the coaching of players from U-14 level upwards in Donegal.

Lacey works as a lecturer in Sport Coaching and Performance at ATU Donegal.

He is one of Donegal’s most decorated county footballers having won an All-Ireland title in 2012, three Ulster titles and four All-Stars.

He was also Footballer of the Year in Donegal’s All-Ireland winning year of 2012.
