Sligo councillor calls for energy credits to be reserved for those who need them most



A Sligo councillor is calling on the government to devise a mechanism to ensure that households that need assistance most with energy bills will receive it in the event of further energy credits being provided by the government.

The latest round of credits, which amount to 600 euro in total, is due to end in April.

It’s widely reported Cabinet may sign off on another 200 euro credit which will be directly applied to energy bills.

The extension of the scheme, if it goes ahead, will be a further measure to help with the cost-of-living crisis.
