Leitrim Councillor calls for funding to made available to construct passing bays



A Leitrim Councillor has called on the local authority to contact the Minister for Transport, Environment, Climate Action and Communications in relation to funding being made available for the construction of passing bays through the county.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Justin Warnock says the lack of adequate infrastructure on some regional and local roads is leading to difficulties for local residents to go about their daily business when it comes to travelling to schools and shops.

The Kinlough-based Councillor says these issues are also negatively impacting the tourism potential of the north west as tour coaches, camper vans and caravans are experiencing difficulties in navigating some roads across the local region.

Councillor Warnock says a pilot scheme should be rolled out in north Leitrim and if it proves to be successful then similar schemes could be introduced throughout the country:
