Minister Ryan says cost factor a major issue in providing Donegal with rail service



The Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, said that he would like to see a rail network extended to Donegal – but warned that it would not be cheap to do so.

 

The comments were made after Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty raised the issue in the Dáil, describing the public transport situation in Donegal as “dire”.

 

In response, Deputy Ryan said that even though there was an existing line there, a new one would have to be built, adding to the cost of the potential project:
