Donegal missing key players for league opener in Galway

Donegal senior women’s gaelic footballers are without several household names for Saturday’s Lidl national league division 1 opener against Galway in Tuam (2pm).

2022 Footballer of the Year Niamh McLaughlin, Geraldine McLaughlin, Yvonne Bonner and Karen Guthrie are the notable absentees.

Team manager Maxi Curran is giving debuts to several players including Aodh Ruadh Ballyshannon’s Cait Gillespie.

Donegal reached the Division 1 league final last season, only to lose narrowly to Meath in the Croke Park decider.

Saturday’s game is being livestreamed by the LGFA from 2pm.
