Former Colleague of Peter Layden remember his contribution to business and Community life in the Arigna area

Tributes are being paid today to the chairman of Arigna Fuels Peter Layden who passed away earlier this week.

The Layden family has been associated with coal mining in the Arigna area through Arigna Collieries until its closure in 1990.

They subsequently established Arigna Fuels a supplier of clean, environmentally-friendly, smokeless fuels to the Irish and UK markets.

The late Mr. Layden also worked extensively to help create the Arigna Mining Experience.

Joe Rynn was the project manager in setting up the popular tourism facility.

He says the skillsets that Peter Leyden possessed played a vital role in helping to bring about the Mining Experience visitors centre.
