St Attracta’s beaten by Roscommon in Connacht final



St Attracta’s hopes of lifting the Connacht senior girls ‘B’ football championship title were dashed at the Connacht GAA Air Dome on Thursday as they lost out narrowly to The Convent of Mercy, Roscommon, on a final scoreline of 2-11 to 1-12.

Roscommon led by 1-8 to 0-5 at half-time in this decider – and while Attracta’s were able to close the gap to three points at various stages in the second-half, there were unable to get level.

Convent of Mercy led by five points as the game ticked into added time.

Attracta’s, who are coached by Katie Walsh and James McDonagh, battled gamely and were rewarded with a late goal.

However, their opponents still have enough to win by two in the end.
