Summerhill College senior rugby team came from 8-0 down to beat last season’s finalists Coláiste Iognáid of Galway 22-13 in the Schools Cup on Thursday.
The win in Dangan takes the College top of Pool 1 with two wins out of two.
The Jes led 8-0 at one stage in the game but Summerhill tries from Kealan Schön, Malachy Cullen & Oliwier Major turned the contest around along with the place kicking of Oisín O’Neill, who supplied seven of Summerhill’s points.
Summerhill now face Garbally College (Ballinasloe) in their concluding pool match – but they are well placed to qualify for the semi-finals of this year’s competition.
Thursday’s other senior schools cup games were postponed because of freezing pitches.
