Leitrim Councillor calls for grit boxes to be situated at public locations



As the local region prepares for another cold spell of weather, a Leitrim Councillor says the number of injuries that many people have suffered as a results of falls on ice could be reduced if salt or grit boxes were situated at locations such as schools, public buildings and housing estates.

Councillor Justin Warnock says the recent cold spell in December also caused great distress to many people as well leading to a number of accidents.

The Fianna Fáil Councillor says funding should be sought under the climate action plan for the provision of salt and grit to community groups and resident associations so that they could treat local roads, streets and housing estates:
