Redevelopment work on Stephen Street car park will start next week



It’s been confirmed that work on the redevelopment of Stephen Street car park in Sligo will begin on Monday.

 

The works include making the car park into a fully pedestrianised public space known as Queen Maeve Square.

 

Once completed, it’s said that the area will be suitable for a broad range of uses including outdoor concerts, cultural events and farmers markets.

 

Pedestrian access will be fully maintained throughout the project, and deliveries to businesses in the area will also be accommodated.

 

New disabled bays have been provided nearby on Stephen Street.

 

With works commencing next week, it is expected that Queen Maeve Square will be completed in 2024.
