Sligo councillor says minor injuries unit would ease pressure on Hospital Staff



A Sligo Councillor has called for the introduction of a minor injuries unit to help ease the strain on the already-struggling health system.

 

The facility would be on the grounds of a private hospital.

 

Earlier this week, Sligo University Hospital was listed as the second most overcrowded facility in the country. Conditions in the hospital in Sligo have been described as “catastrophic”, and the facility itself is said to be at “crisis point”.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Sinn Féin Councillor Thomas Healy believes that the introduction of a minor injuries unit, as per Roscommon University Hospital, would go a long way towards easing the pressure on staff in Sligo:
