Local Councillor calls for antigen test VAT charge reversal



A Sligo councillor has called on the Government to reverse or defer the VAT charge on antigen test kits.

The 23% VAT charge, which was introduced on January 1st, 2023, comes as senior medical advisors say that the health service is under the “most pressure ever”.

The removal of the charge was brought in in December 2020, and was then extended to the end of December 2022, but has returned since the turn of the year.
