IFA Livestock Chairman welcomes reopening of Chinese beef market



The announcement by the Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue today that the Chinese market was to reopen for Irish beef has been warmly welcomed by various farming groups.

IFA Livestock Chairman Brendan Golden said the long-awaited re-opening of the Chinese market to Irish beef is significant for many areas including the north west where many farmers are engaged in the production of beef.

Mr Golden added that farmers could soon feel the benefits of this renewed access directly in stronger beef prices for cattle finishers.

The Mayo based farmer says that the timing of the decision will come as a welcome boost for many farmers that are struggling with high input costs:
