HSE appeal is ‘a sad state of affairs’ says former INMO President



The former president of the INMO has described the HSE’s appeal to people seeking medical care or assessment to consider all options before going to a hospital Emergency Department as a ‘sad state of affairs’.

The appeal also comes after a ‘major internal incident’ was declared yesterday at University Hospital Limerick.

Cases of Covid-19 and influenza continue to increase rapidly, while RSV cases, which had been declining for several weeks, are also now increasing.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Martina Harkin Kelly believes that hospital capacity issues are not new and that HSE management are aware of the issues faced by hospitals:
