Social Protection minister announces supports will commence next week



The Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphries has announced that over one billion euro in Social Protection supports will kick in next week.

The measures, which were part of Budget 2023, include increases to disability and care allowances.

81 thousand additional households will now fall under the Fuel Allowance Scheme.

The current rate of fuel allowance stands at €33 per week.

Recipients of the Disability Allowance and Blind Pension will be entitled to €25 more per week.

Parents or guardians of children with severe disabilities will see their monthly rate increase by €20 and 50 cents.

In addition, those applying for the working family payment, will see the income threshold increase by €40 per week.
