Bus Éireann reports increased demand on Donegal routes

Bus Éireann has reported a return to pre-Covid passenger levels.

For the past number of months, overall road passenger numbers are 15% higher than in 2019.

The Expressway Service has seen an increased demand on services with Routes 30 and 32 from Donegal town and Letterkenny to Dublin performing particularly strongly.

To deliver this growth, Bus Éireann hired 215 new drivers to join its workforce in 2022 with recruitment ongoing in 2023.

In a statement, Stephen Kent, Chief Executive, Bus Éirean says the demand is down to a number of factors, namely better services and the Government’s 20% fare reduction and 50% reduction on Young Adult Leap Cards.
