Morning frost leads to further challenging driving conditions

Motorists across the north west are being reminded to slow down on their commute this morning, as the region wakes up to severe frost and ice.

Some parts of the country recorded temperatures of close to minus 10 overnight, with a status orange ice warning still in place for a number of counties including Leitrim., Cavan and Roscommon until midday.

It’ll be followed by another orange alert for every county bar Donegal from 6 o’clock this evening.

A status yellow low temperature and ice warning will also remain in place for the entire until tomorrow.

The Road Safety Authority is reminding drivers to take extra care and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
