Leitrim Councillor wants more roads staff retained during winter months

A Leitrim councillor has questioned the decision taken by the local authority in Leitrim to reduce the number of staff working in the roads department section.

Cllr. Padraig Fallon raised the matter at this month’s meeting of the Manorhamilton Municipal District of Leitrim County Council.

The Sinn Fein Councillor says that the value of the roads section is felt now more than ever when it comes to the treatment of primary roads during the current spell of artic weather that is gripping the North West.

With more repair work expected to be required on many roads in following the recent cold snap Cllr Fallon says its import that the council retains as many of their outdoor staff as possible.
