Decision to exclude North West Hospitals from surgical plan ‘disappointing’



A decision to omit Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospitals from a new Government plan to deal with the backlog of planned operations has been described as disappointing.

 

Ministers are expected to sign off on the creation of five new surgical hubs across the country today – they’re to be located in Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Dublin at a cost of up to 100 million euro.

 

They will focus on high volume surgeries like ear, nose and throat issues, urology, orthopaedics, gynaecology and general surgery.

 

However, it seems that both Sligo and Letterkenny wont be included in the plan
