A pilot scheme which resulted in a pop-up swimming pool being located in Tubbercurry will be extended for a period of three months.
The pool which is situated beside the local Garda Station in the town, is co-ordinated by Sligo Sport & Recreation Partnership, Sligo County Council and Swim Ireland.
The pool is housed in a steel shipping container, measuring 12 metres x 3.5 metres inside a marquee, and is fully heated, and is equipped to cater for disabled swimmers, with changing facilities.
Cllr Paul Taylor say the pop Pool has proven extremely popular not alone in Tubbercurry but also in surrounding areas.
