Hopes for funding to be secured for Leitrim Community Driving Scheme



There are renewed hopes that some funding could be provided to the Leitrim Community Driving Scheme.

The local initiative entails taking people to hospital appointments with volunteers using their own cars.

The Centre estimates it will cost about €50,000 per annum to put the scheme on a more sustainable footing.

This year the centre has raised €30,000 for it.

Sligo Leitrim TD Marian Harkin raised the matter with the Taoiseach and a commitment was given to explore more funding avenues.
