Donegal’s Shay Given inducted into FAI’s Hall of Fame

Donegal’s Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Shay Given was inducted into the FAI’s Hall of Fame on Wednesday.

The Lifford man is one of the six Republic of Ireland Men’s senior team players to have made more than 100 appearances, having played 134 times for Ireland throughout his international career.

Given played at three major tournament finals: The 2002 World Cup, Euro 2012 and Euro 2016.

At club level, Given played 451 games in the English Premier League – a record for an Irish player.

His honours included the FA Cup with Manchester City and the Intertoto Cup with Newcastle United.

Linda Gorman is also a new inductee. She was a member of the first ever Republic of Ireland women’s side that beat Wales in 1973.
