Donegal TD has little confidence in the Saolta Hospital Group’s winter plan

A north west based TD is pleading with the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, to engage immediately with the Saolta Hospital Group to help prevent what he describes as ‘a major crisis’ when it comes to overcrowding at Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospital.

Sinn Fein TD Pádraig Mac Lochlainn made the calls after news emerged that 90 people were left waiting on a hospital bed at Sligo and Letterkenny University yesterday.

The Sinn Fein TD says the high figures so early in the year is alarming.

Deputy Mac Lochlainn says there problems right across the health care system and that there is little evidence of an effective winter plan being provided by the Saolta Hospital Group to deal with the challenges that lie ahead in the months ahead.
