A Sligo Leitrim TD says the late Vicky Phelan will be remembered for her bravery and brutal honesty regarding her illness.
The Dail has been paying tribute to the cervical cancer campaigner this afternoon, who died yesterday at the age of 48.
Ms Phelan was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014, three years after a smear test showed no abnormalities which was later found to have been wrong.
Sligo Leitrim TD Marian Harkin described Ms Phelan as a strong woman and that it was incumbent on every TD to ensure her campaign is fulfilled:
