Dail hears of Sligo butchers imminent closure over rising energy costs



The Finance Minister has acknowledged the anguish among the owner and staff of one Sligo butcher shop set to shut its doors over the spiralling cost in energy.

 

Sherlock’s in Cartron is closing its doors next month with a statement on social media this week indicating that it’s due to rising electricity and operational costs.

 

The issue was raised in the Dail by Sligo- Leitrim Independent TD Marian Harkin who says this local business is just one of many who are finding it impossible to cope.

 

Minister Paschal Donohoe says while he empathises with those affected, the Government cannot fully insulate any business from the current crisis:
