Nightclub owner says new laws will bring challenges



A Sligo nightclub owner says the proposed longer opening hours for bars and night clubs will not necessarily be a game changer for  the local region.

Longer opening hours for pubs and nightclubs are being discussed this morning as part of plans to overhaul 200-year old licensing laws.

The Justice Minister is looking for Government approval to allow clubs to continue serving until 5am and stay open until 6am.

Pubs will be allowed to operate between half 10 in the morning and half 12 at night across the week.

Fergal Quinn, operator of Lola Montez, says while the new closing time will bring it’s challenges such as securing the services of staff.

He says the moves will benefit pubs and clubs in larger cities:
