Doherty grabs winner for Ireland U19’s

Emma Doherty’s first half strike proved to be the winner as the Republic of Ireland U19’s saw off Northern Ireland with a 1-0 win their European Championship qualifier.

She wasn’t the only Sligo Rovers player to feature, as Pixie O’Hara came off the bench on 56 minutes, replacing Shelbourne’s Lia O’Leary to make her first international appearance at this level.

Doherty’s goal leaves Ireland in a healthy position in their group, with four points from two games.

They play France on Monday morning, and should progress to the elite round of qualifying if they avoid defeat.
