Leitrim councillor calls for reintroduction of community policing



The September meeting of the Leitrim Joint Policing Commission has heard calls for the traditional y practices of cimmunity policing to be reintroduced in towns and villages across Leitrim.

 

Kinlough based councillor Justin Warnock has made the calls adding that there are many in the North Leitrim town where he lives that feel they have been abandoned by an Garda Siochana.

 

Responding to the claims, Superintendent Christy Grogan stated how policing has changed to meet the demands of a more ‘transient society’.

 

Cllr Warnock says a physical Garda presence is needed in Kinlough as the population has witnessed a significant  increased in recent years.
