Sligo’s Brian Colsh finishes third in World Rowing final

Ballymote’s Brian Colsh has finished third in Sunday’s ‘C’ final of the men’s single sculls at the senior World Rowing Championships in the Czech Republic.

Rowing in lane 5, Colsh was second through the first 1000 metres, but was overtaken by Lithuania in the closing stages to finish third behind the winner Hungary.

Colsh was unfortunate earlier in the week not to reach the A semi-finals after coming fourth in his quarter-final.

Nonetheless, in this his first ever senior World Championships, the 20-year-old has finished in the top 15 single scullers globally.
