Donegal GAA has postponed this Saturday night’s senior football championship semi-final between holders St Eunan’s and Kilcar as a mark of respect to the Sullivan and Devenney families in the Letterkenny and Newtowncunningham areas.
The local GAA community was deeply saddened by news of the deaths of Patrick Devenney on Thursday and Mairead Sullivan (née Devenney) on Friday.
They were father and sister to well-known former Donegal and St Eunan’s GAA star Brendan Devenney.
Both the Sullivan and Devenney families have had strong connections with St Eunan’s GAA Club.
The postponed semi-final will be played next weekend.
Margaret’s funeral will take place, along with her father, Patrick, in Newtowncunningham this Saturday at 12noon.
