CEO of Killybegs fishermen’s organisation warns of potential jobs loses



The CEO of the Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation is warning of immediate and significant job losses unless there is supports introduced to alleviate the rising costs of fuel.

 

Chief Executive of the KFO Seán O’Donoghue is warning that many fishermen on the brink.

 

He claims that the Irish Government has been given approval for such a support scheme for the sector which is already in place in many other EU member states and that the European Parliament has approved funding for fishermen in light of the extreme escalation in fuel costs for their vessels.

 

Speaking to OceanFM news  Mr O Donoughe says Boats will have to be decommissioned and jobs will be lost in the sector.
