Local Councillor calls greater allocation of crossing wardens for Sligo



A Sligo Councillor is calling for an end to what he has termed rural discrimination when it comes to school crossing wardens in county Sligo.

 

Fianna Fáil councillor Donal Gilroy believes that a review is needed on the current policy, so that children living in rural areas can avail of the same services are those living in urban areas.

 

Cllr Gilroy says parents in rural parts of County Sligo are paying the same taxes as everyone else but aren’t getting the same benefits.

 

He believes all children should be entitled to a school traffic warden, no matter where they live:
