Situation at Sligo University Hospital ‘an emergency’



A Sligo Leitrim TD has described the situation at Sligo University Hospital as an emergency.

 

It’s after figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show that the hospital was one of the most overcrowded facility nationwide in the month of August.

 

A total of 720 patients waited for beds at the hospital over the course of the month.

 

Independent TD Marian Harkin says that unfortunately, Sligo is no stranger to overcrowding.
