Leitrim Councillor describes as ‘daft’ plans to ban the advertising of turf sales.



A Leitrim Councillor has described moves to penalise the likes of retail outlets and local newspapers for advertising turf for sale as daft and something you would see on April fool’s Day.

 

From this winter on, new rules under the Air Pollution Act will come into effect on October 31st with local authorities tasked with enforcing the clampdown on publicising the sale of turf which is also set to include online advertising.

 

It comes as there are currently hundreds of turf for sale adverts on Done Deal.

 

However Cllr Padraig Fallon believes that the plans won’t impact those in rural communities:
